SMART Archiver Extension Project Back

As part of my third year project at UMIST I worked on extensions to the SMART archiver. SMART is a replacement archiver for the mailing list manager Mailman. The extensions include some basic wiki functionality and some ideas borrowed from Ka-Ping Yee's Zest.

Feel free to E-mail me (iain at bapty dot org) if you want a copy of the source code.

The following is a static demonstration of the Zest-style functionality I have built into SMART. It is a Zest-style representation of the following thread structure.

And now the zest-style representation.

This is a demonstration conversation. Its purpose is to show how
messages can contain information with can be automatically exploited to
present extra structure.
This is the reply to the "This is a demonstration..." paragraph. This
sub-topic should be seperate from the other sub-topic (Wikis) described
in these electronic messages. {iain@surpressed}
This project also implements some wiki functionality, this wiki
functionality uses the conversation structure as a base for the wiki.
Essentially providing a flexible tool that will hopefully be useful.

This is another reply, by a different author (in this case the
original author), to the Wiki paragraph. This could be used as a
clarification of something that has been said. {root}
Thank you for that clarification. Everything make senses now, the answer
to your original enquiry is 42. I hope this cleans up any
misunderstandings that existed between the two of us. Wikis are great. {iain@surpressed}
This is a reply to the original Wiki-topic paragraph. A WikiWikiWeb
enabled documents to be authored collectively in a simple markup
language using a web browser. "Wiki wiki" means "fast" in the Hawaiian
language. {iain@surpressed}
This is another reply to the original Wiki-topic. {iain@surpressed}
